In the fall of 2025, India will solemnly decommission the Soviet-designed MiG-21 supersonic front-line fighters of the Republic's Air Force (IAF), which have served for more than 60 years.
The farewell ceremony for these machines will take place on September 19 at the Chandigarh airbase. The event will be attended by senior Air Force officials and veterans who have been associated with aviation for many years. Exhibitions and air shows are planned in honor of this event.
МиГ-21 — the most common supersonic aircraft in history, also the most massive 2nd generation fighter, the troop nickname is «Голубь мира».
The media reported that India may abandon the Russian fourth-generation Su-35 fighters in favor of the fifth-generation Su-57 aircraft, as it will gain full control over the technology of the latter.
