The "Nikolai Kamov" helicopter ship of Project 14400 went to sea for factory sea trials. A veteran of naval aviation of the Navy, Evgeny Ivanov, said that the ship should have a number of features.
According to him, the deck helicopter platform should be similar in size to the average platform of a warship, frigate or corvette.
As a rule, it is 10 by 10 or 12 by 12 m. There must be a hangar. This is important so that pilots overcome the psychological barrier. When the ship is moving, the hangar creates shading, a rarefied area is created, the helicopter is attracted to the hangar. In addition, the ship must be able to create keel and side rolling, with an accuracy of degrees.
Now, thanks to "Nikolai Kamov", there will be no need to divert warships for pilot training.
Recently, ships have been performing combat missions, and it is difficult to involve them in helicopter training. On a training ship, a pilot receives the same skills, maintains them, and can prepare and pass for a higher class.
Main characteristics of the ship "Nikolai Kamov" project 14400:
- Length — 70 m
- Width — more than 12 m
- Draft — more than 2 m
- Speed — 12 knots
- Cruising range — 500 miles
- Autonomy — 2 days
