Will Allow Abandoning "Manual" Calculation: Rosatom Completes First Stage of Development of "WIZARD-RDM" Software Package

"WIZARD-RDM" Will Become the Basis of a Digital Twin of Radiochemical Production

Rosatom Corporation has completed the first stage of developing the "WIZARD-RDM" software package, which will become the technological basis for creating a digital twin of radiochemical production. This was reported by the holding's press service.

The new version of the virtual radiochemical plant will allow assessing all stages of spent nuclear fuel (SNF) reprocessing, analyzing the composition and quantity of reagents, waste volume, parameters of technological operations, and specific characteristics of radiochemical processes. Based on the collected data, the system will help optimize SNF reprocessing technologies and methods for handling radioactive waste (RAW) at the development stage and during operation.

This is an important project for Russian science, as there are currently no twins of radiochemical production facilities needed to improve the efficiency of creating and further operating closed nuclear fuel cycle facilities.

The technological digital twin will also allow scientists to abandon "manual" calculations and minimize the risk of errors in the implementation of real projects. Currently, the main vision of the new version of the software package has been developed, including approaches to calculation algorithms and requirements for its structure. The completion of this work will pave the way for software development.

Earlier, www1.ru reported that Rosatom and Softline are joining forces to digitalize the industry.
