The grand launch of the Cherekskaya HPP, built by RusHydro, took place in Kabardino-Balkaria. The station with a capacity of 23.4 MW will annually generate 87 million kWh of clean energy, providing electricity to more than 25 thousand households.
Cherekskaya HPP has become part of the Nizhne-Cherek cascade and is highly environmentally friendly. Designers from the Institute Hydroproject (part of RusHydro) designed the station to minimize the impact on the environment: its construction did not require flooding of land, and the water regime of the Cherek River remained unchanged.
All HPP equipment is made in Russia and meets modern standards. The installation was carried out by specialists from «Hydroremont-VKK» (part of RusHydro), which accelerated the commissioning of the station. Cherekskaya HPP operates within the framework of DPM-VIE (agreement on the provision of capacity for renewable energy sources), guaranteeing a return on investment.
