Serial production of the LMS-901 Baikal light aircraft is scheduled to begin no later than 2026. This was announced by Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin at a meeting on the aviation industry.
MS-21 and Baikal should be ready for serial launch, respectively, according to the plans we have, in October and December of next year.
The Baikal aircraft was planned to be produced at the Ural Civil Aviation Plant (UZGA) back in 2019, and it was supposed to replace the An-2.
The head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation, Anton Alikhanov, stated that the first five Baikal light aircraft will be delivered to the airline "Aurora" at the end of 2026.
Earlier www1.ru reported that serial production of the PD-8 engine for the Superjet SJ-100 will begin in 2025.
