Drone Detector for Just 200,000 Rubles Created in Russia

The "Babay" station consists entirely of domestic components

A new drone detection station called "Babay" has been developed in Chelyabinsk to protect airfields and other infrastructure facilities. The system does not create interference and operates in passive mode, but it detects aerial targets in any weather.

According to test results, drones were detected at a distance of up to 1.5 km, including in dense urban areas, terrain folds, behind trees, and behind buildings, said designer Alexander Rodikov.

According to him, the detection station, like the missile guidance head that works in tandem with the station, consists of domestic components.

Imported parts and components are not used, and neural networks are also not used. Target detection and missile guidance are achieved by capturing and analyzing the sound emitted by UAVs during flight.

The production cost of "Babay," complete with a launcher and missiles flying at a speed of no more than 300 m/s, is 200,000 rubles, which is significantly cheaper than any other air defense systems, including laser ones.

Earlier, www1.ru reported that MiG-31 fighters used hypersonic "Kinzhal" missiles for the second time in three days.
