Russian military forces have begun using modernized heavy flamethrower systems TOS-1A "Solntsepyok." The Russian Ministry of Defense has published an official video confirming the combat operation of the new system.
The footage showed the operation of the new combat vehicle on the chassis of a T-80 tank. The missile package received a lattice screen for protection against drones, and the main hull of the "Solntsepyok" was covered with "Relikt" dynamic protection. The vehicle was also equipped with its own electronic warfare systems.
The mechanic-driver of the "Solntsepyok" said that the vehicle's power allows it to turn 180 degrees in first and second gear.
The vehicle moves faster both on rough terrain and on highways, roads, and ruts, and has become much more maneuverable.
The basic version of the "Solntsepyok" combat vehicle received a T-72 tank chassis, which houses a package of 24 thermobaric projectiles of 220 mm caliber.
Earlier, www1.ru reported that the production scale of the T-90M "Proryv" has been revealed — up to 300 tanks per year.
