There are almost no new hatchbacks left on the Russian car market. Sergey Tselikov, director of the analytical agency "Autostat," announced this in his Telegram channel.
In the first half of 2025, hatchback sales decreased by 66%. A total of 11,000 cars were sold during this period, which is 66% less than in the same period in 2024. The share of this segment in the market fell to 2%. At the same time, the share of sedans was 17%, and crossovers accounted for more than 67%.
In the showrooms of official dealers, the models of compact "classic" hatchbacks can be counted on the fingers of one hand.
The specialist explained the decrease in the number of hatchbacks on the Russian car market by the fact that Chinese manufacturers focused on the production of crossovers. In addition, only two models with this type of body are represented in Russia, and the import of inexpensive cars under the parallel import scheme turned out to be unprofitable.
