The laying ceremony of the large landing ship (BDK) of the modernized Project 11711 "Sergey Kabanov" took place at the Yantar shipyard (part of the United Shipbuilding Corporation, USC) in Kaliningrad.
Engineers are working on the issue of retrofitting the BDK of Project 11711 with protection against unmanned boats and drones, said Andrey Ivlev, Deputy General Director for Design of the Nevsky Design Bureau of the USC.
The new ship under Project 11711 will be similar to the two ships under construction, "Vladimir Andreev" and "Vasily Trushin". The experience of operating the BDK of Project 11711 was taken into account by the bureau when developing the modernized project; two ships of this project are under construction.
The BDK of Project 11711 is designed to transport about 15 tanks or about 35 armored personnel carriers/infantry fighting vehicles, or up to a battalion of marines. The ship is armed with AK-630 and AK-630M-2 artillery mounts. A Ka-27 search and rescue helicopter or a Ka-29 combat helicopter can be accommodated on the deck.
Earlier www1.ru reported that Mi-28NM helicopters were equipped with S-13DF vacuum missiles: they will break through a meter of concrete.
