Rostec's "Smart" Pedestrian Crossings AVRO-V, Presented at Innoprom-2025, Reduce Accidents

The innovative system projects a "zebra crossing" onto the asphalt and analyzes the traffic situation in real time

At the Innoprom-2025 exhibition, Rostec State Corporation showcased for the first time the AVRO-V hardware and software complex, a domestic development aimed at improving the safety of pedestrian crossings. The system combines projection marking and computer vision, which helps to reduce the number of accidents in difficult weather conditions.

The complex consists of a projector that is mounted on poles and creates a bright light "zebra crossing" that is visible even in the dark, snowfall, or rain. According to the developers, drivers notice such a crossing significantly earlier than a conventional one. In addition, AVRO-V is equipped with AI algorithms that analyze the traffic situation. The system recognizes dangerous situations - for example, a person falling or a foreign object on the crossing - and automatically alerts emergency services.

The system is capable of recognizing potentially dangerous situations - from a person falling to a left object - and promptly transmitting information to city services.
Mikhail Stepichev, Deputy Director of ORKOR

Alexander Nazarov, Deputy General Director of Rostec, noted:

The system has proven its effectiveness in practice. For example, in the Kaluga region, after its installation on dangerous road sections, it was possible to achieve a significant reduction in the risk of accidents at equipped crossings. Similar results are demonstrated by other regions as well. In total, there are already about 1000 such complexes in operation. Taking into account the results obtained, the scaling of the complex will continue to the remaining regions of the country.
Alexander Nazarov, Deputy General Director of Rostec State Corporation

The system developer is ORKOR (part of Rosatom's Innohub), and the implementation is carried out by the RT-Project Technologies holding. According to Mikhail Stepichev, Deputy Director of ORKOR, the product requires minimal maintenance, which reduces the costs of cities on infrastructure.
