At the largest hydroelectric power station in Europe, the Volzhskaya HPP (Volgograd Region), a planned replacement of the generator on hydro unit No. 8 has begun. The equipment will be updated as part of the comprehensive modernization program of the facility. This was reported by the press service of the company "RusHydro".
The new generator is modern, with improved technical characteristics, and manufactured by the Russian company "Power Machines". It will be installed to replace the old one, which has been in operation for more than 65 years.
At the Volzhskaya HPP, 22 hydro turbines and 20 generators have been updated. After modernization, its capacity will increase to 2,744.5 MW. The hydroelectric power station plays an important role in ensuring the reliable operation of the Unified Energy System of Russia.
