State Duma to soften requirements for online cinemas regarding distribution certificates

New amendments will avoid the removal of existing content and simplify the process of obtaining documents for new films

State Duma deputies are planning to finalize the draft law on distribution certificates for online cinemas. This concerns amendments that oblige streaming services to obtain distribution certificates for all films and series.

It is not about requiring distribution certificates for works that are already on audiovisual services. It is about the obligation or voluntary obtaining of a distribution certificate for the premiere screenings of what will appear.
Sergey Boyarsky, head of the State Duma Committee on Information Policy

According to the deputy, the new requirements will help avoid the lengthy process of оформление документов for existing content. According to him, about 90% of streaming content on "Kinopoisk" would have to be removed in accordance with the original versions of the bill.
