Almost every fifth Russian actively using e-scooters has been injured while riding. This was revealed by the Rambler&Co media holding in conjunction with SberStrakhovanie. The survey was conducted from June 11 to June 19, 2025, and covered 43,633 users of kick-sharing services, 20% of whom regularly use e-scooters.
Among them, 18% reported injuries. Most got away with bruises and abrasions, but 5% suffered dislocations and fractures. At the same time, only 13% of active scooter riders have accident insurance.
Dmitry Pursanov, Director of Retail Insurance at SberStrakhovanie, noted that even falls at low speeds can lead to serious health and financial consequences. According to him, 22% of those surveyed who were injured spent more than 15 thousand rubles on treatment and recovery.
In the past scooter rental season, from March 26 to November 15, 2024, the insurance company registered almost 17 thousand injury claims. This season, which began on March 15, has already received more than 7 thousand claims.
The study also showed that more than half of regular e-scooter users have purchased their own means of transportation, while 45% rent them. The main reasons for using scooters: 49% ride for fun, 45% for convenient and quick travel to the metro or other places, and 6% use them in their work.
