Scammers started offering "jobs" to extort money from Russians

Users of job search sites are becoming victims

Scammers have come up with a new way to deceive Russians: they pose as employers and extort large sums of money. Users of job search sites who transfer money allegedly to help the employer are becoming victims. This was reported by the press service of VTB.

Such schemes exploit the trust of people who are looking for work. Criminals don’t just create the appearance of employment — they artificially create a “boss-subordinate” relationship so that the victim is psychologically more likely to agree to their terms.

VTB reminded that before agreeing to work, check the employer and find the official contacts of the company to make sure it is real.

Do not transfer money, even if the employer promises compensation or a refund. Be careful with suspicious phone numbers — scammers often change them and hide under fictitious names. The bank warns: if the employer requires payment before employment, this is a sign of fraud.

Earlier it became known that scammers are sending voice messages in Telegram to attract the attention of users and offer them to "earn" on simple actions on the Internet — likes. They pretend to be representatives of large trading platforms.
