The production plans for the MC-21, announced by the state corporation Rostec, may well overlap with Aeroflot's plans to receive more than 100 of these aircraft by 2030. This opinion was expressed by Oleg Panteleev, Executive Director of the AviaPort agency.
According to him, even if the assembly rate of 72 MC-21s per year, which is stipulated in the comprehensive program for the development of the aviation industry, is not reached on this horizon, assembling more than 100 aircraft is a feasible task.
This is based on the assembly rate for which production is currently being modernized both in Irkutsk and at the contractors – suppliers of components.
Panteleev noted that Aeroflot is maintaining its existing fleet of foreign-made aircraft. Moreover, the company continues to settle insurance claims for those aircraft that belong to foreign leasing companies.
This will be both a safety net in case of unforeseen circumstances and a reserve for implementing ambitious plans to increase passenger traffic.
Earlier, www1.ru reported that a full cycle of production of PD-8 and PD-14 blades will ensure the independence of aircraft engine construction in Russia.
