In Russia, scammers most often "hunt" for the elderly, children, and cryptocurrency owners, according to Mikhail Gerber, director of the consumer business department at Kaspersky Lab.
In addition to the elderly, who require special attention, there are also children who use the phone and access the Internet from a very early age. This age is getting younger and younger. And in fact, this category of citizens, children, is also in a fairly large focus of attackers.
The number of threats targeting children is growing. In 2025, the number of attacks on Android devices in Russia increased by 60%, where malicious files were disguised as games popular among children. Attackers take advantage of the interest of young Russians, infecting their gadgets with malware. Viruses can spread both under the guise of the games themselves and in the form of programs that help children complete them.
According to the expert, this scheme allows you to infect all devices on the home Wi-Fi network.
We are also seeing an increase in the number of threats targeting cryptocurrency owners. For example, they can search the device for crypto wallets themselves or scan photos for access keys to wallets.
Earlier, Gerber reported that the number of malicious programs on fake Android devices is growing in Russia. Attackers infect smartphones at the firmware stage and then sell them over the Internet.
