One of Russia's Largest Mining Clusters to Be Created in Komi: 114 MW Data Center and Gas Piston Power Plant

The mining cluster will operate on its own electricity generated from local natural gas

One of the largest mining clusters in Russia is planned to be created in the Komi Republic. The corresponding agreement was signed at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, according to the press service of the head of the republic.

The project is unique in that the mining cluster will operate on its own electricity generated from local natural gas. Investors — Integrator Komi LLC, together with Megapolis-Invest Management Company LLC — will build a data processing center (DPC) with a capacity of 114 MW, as well as its own gas piston power plant to power it.

Dmitry Bratynenko, Chairman of the Komi Government, noted that the cluster will create new jobs and provide additional tax revenues to the regional budget. He emphasized that the project demonstrates how local resources can become the basis for the development of modern technologies in the region, and not just raw materials for sale.

Gasan Mustafaev, a representative of Megapolis-Invest Management Company, confirmed the scale of the project, noting that mining will be carried out on gas piston units, which will make the site one of the largest in Russia in terms of gas generation. The cluster, located near Syktyvkar, will be able to effectively use the region's advantages — the availability of energy resources and a cold climate, which is favorable for the operation of computing equipment.

Within the framework of the forum, an agreement was signed between the government of Komi and Radian LLC on the construction of a large data processing center in the region, which will contribute to the development of the IT industry and digital technologies.
