Disturbances of level G2.3 affect energy systems and radio wave propagation

An average magnetic storm began on Earth on the night of June 13. It may reach a stronger level, according to the Solar Astronomy Laboratory of the Space Research Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences.

A magnetic storm has been registered on Earth since 11 PM Moscow time, and as of 4 AM it has not stopped, reaching level G2.3 at the moment.

Scientists noted that the score of event G2.3 is above average and exceeds the threshold from which the impact on radio wave propagation and energy systems becomes noticeable.

The causes of the storm are not obvious at the moment. Measurements have shown a noticeable increase in magnetic field induction and plasma density in the solar wind surrounding the Earth in recent hours, the Space Research Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences added.
