«Атом» продолжают совершенствовать: создатели исследовали нагрузку на водителей

Experts have identified the optimal balance of interfaces for comfortable driving

The development team of the "Atom" electric vehicle, in anticipation of the mass production of the car, conducted a joint study with scientists from the Ural Federal University (UrFU). It was devoted to the cognitive load of drivers. Experts wanted to find out how easy and convenient it is to manage the interfaces of the new electric vehicle.

The study included an assessment of the efforts required by drivers to perceive information and interact with interfaces. Modern methods were used for this, such as electroencephalography (EEG), electrocardiography (ECG) and eye tracking. The technologies made it possible to obtain objective data on cognitive load.

Participants were offered a special questionnaire, which helped to assess their subjective feelings while performing various tasks. The study was conducted on a simulation stand, but in the future it is planned to adapt the testing to real road conditions.

It is important to find a balance between the amount of information that is displayed in the interfaces of the electric vehicle and the ability of the human brain to assimilate this information. An excessive amount of data can overload the driver and distract him from driving the vehicle.

The results will help the "Atom" team create more convenient and safe interfaces for drivers, which will increase the comfort and safety of driving an electric vehicle.
