Kazan Aviation Plant May Start Restoring Tu-204 Alongside Tu-214 Construction

In total, the company is capable of returning up to six aircraft to service

The Kazan Aviation Plant (KAZ) intends to start restoring some Tu-204 aircraft that were produced in Ulyanovsk. In total, the company is capable of repairing up to six aircraft of the Red Wings airline.

As for the Tu-214, Red Wings operates one aircraft of this series, manufactured in 2009, and until 2015 the aircraft belonged to Transaero. The airline will soon have a second "Transaero" aircraft from 2006. Imported substitute units and systems are being tested on it.

KAZ is restoring another Tu-214 from 2008, which may go to Red Wings. Three more Tu-214 series aircraft are currently in storage. According to preliminary data, they are in poor condition, and it would be impractical to restore them.

Tu-204 is a Soviet and Russian medium-range narrow-body passenger aircraft, developed in the late 1980s to replace the Tu-154 passenger aircraft on airlines. The flight range is 4200-5920 km, designed for 164-215 passengers. Since the 1990s, it has been produced at the Ulyanovsk Aviastar-SP plant.

Earlier www1.ru reported that the timing for equipping Be-200 aircraft with Russian PD-8 engines has been announced.
