IMEMO RAS: Indonesia may decide that it does not need many French aircraft

Russia may have a chance to reassert itself in the Indonesian arms market amid negative assessments of the results of the use of French Rafale fighters in the May Indo-Pakistani conflict. This was stated by Petr Topichkanov, Head of the Sector for New Challenges in South and Southeast Asia at the National Research Institute of World Economy and International Relations named after E.M. Primakov of the Russian Academy of Sciences (0MEMO RAS).

Jakarta may have decided that it does not need so many French cars. This gives a chance to Russia, which supplied the country with Su-30.

About Su-30:

Su-30 (NATO classification - Flanker-C) is a two-seat multirole heavy fighter. Developed at the Sukhoi Design Bureau in the late 1980s on the basis of the Su-27UB training fighter.

Designed to control group combat operations of Su-27 fighters when solving the tasks of gaining air superiority, covering ground troops and objects, destroying landings, as well as for conducting aerial reconnaissance and destroying ground or surface targets.
