For cars, drones and motorcycles: new compact batteries created at MAI

The devices have successfully passed drone tests

Prototypes of lithium-ion rechargeable batteries with improved characteristics were developed at the Moscow Aviation Institute (MAI). These batteries allow increasing the flight duration of unmanned aerial vehicles. This was reported in the press service of the university.

Our batteries are lightweight and can safely provide a current ten times their capacity for an extended period without significant damage or performance degradation. Such batteries allow equipment to work longer. For example, on target drones, the flight time can be increased from 20 to 35 minutes.
Irina Larionova, Head of Projects of the "Aeromobility" Directorate of MAI

The MAI development can be used in drones, cars, motorcycles, boats, boats and other high-power devices. New type lithium-ion batteries are created using polymer electrolytes and highly dispersed electrode materials in special proportions. The unique cell design allows the battery to store a large amount of energy per unit weight and quickly release it.

Rechargeable batteries have successfully passed several tests and demonstrated their effectiveness when used on drones developed at MAI.

Earlier www1.ru reported that a "non-tiring" drone for monitoring objects with limited access was created at MAI.
