Russia has begun equipping combat aircraft, in particular, MiG and Su series fighters, with new tactical nuclear missiles. This was reported in a report by the US Department of Defense Intelligence Agency.
According to information from open sources, it is a special modification of the R-37M long-range guided missile, equipped with a tactical nuclear charge.
Originally developed for MiG-31 interceptors, the missile has also been adapted for use on Su-30SM, Su-35S, and Su-57 multirole fighters.
The document states that Russia continues to increase the potential of nuclear forces, including the development of new aviation systems, such as nuclear air-to-air missiles and other advanced carriers.
