In the first three months of 2025, 41,800 cybersecurity (IB) vacancies were opened in Russia, which is almost half of the total number of offers for the entire 2024 (89,900). This data was presented by Tatyana Fomina, Director of IT and Cybersecurity at hh.ru, at a joint session of CIPR and Vedomosti.

The demand for cybersecurity specialists is growing by 18% per year, but employers are facing a shortage of qualified personnel. According to Fomina, many applicants do not meet the requirements, especially in junior positions, where salary expectations are often inflated. At the same time, middle and senior specialists receive offers higher than their requests. Salaries in the IB sector are growing faster than in IT as a whole - the median value has increased by 28% since 2021 (from 77,800 to 99,900 rubles). For specialists with 6+ years of experience, the average offer reaches 259,200 rubles, and for those who have worked for 3 to 6 years, it is 158,900 rubles. However, newcomers have to agree to smaller amounts than they expect.
Experts attribute the problem to the increasing complexity of cyberattacks, a lack of practice-oriented education, and the high complexity of entering the profession. Cybersecurity requires in-depth knowledge of cryptography, network protection, and threat analysis, but not all training programs provide the necessary skills.
