Progress in laser technology will lead to the end of drone dominance in battle. This opinion was expressed by military expert Yuri Knutov.
Knutov noted that the destruction of a drone by a laser is associated with a number of difficulties, in particular, the light beam needs some time to stay on the target. The military expert considers the use of an electromagnetic gun, which the US and China have, to be a much more promising way to intercept drones.
All microcircuits turn into garbage. Thus, it is possible to completely neutralize a swarm of drones at a distance of several hundred meters.
According to him, data is already being accumulated on the use of directed electromagnetic energy to destroy aerial targets, and the systematization of this information may take up to five years, after which it will be possible to combat not only single drones, but also their swarms.
If they solve this problem, then drones will cease to dominate the battlefield.
