Innovations in e-scooter rental: Whoosh introduces the "smart" IoT 7.0 module

Scooters have improved navigation, as well as modernized lighting

Whoosh, an e-scooter rental company, has announced the launch of a new IoT 7.0 module. The device is responsible for managing, collecting data, and navigating scooters. The company's press service noted that the introduction of the new product will significantly reduce operating costs for maintenance and repair.

The new module is a high-tech device that functions as the "brain" of the scooter and includes its own software, as well as a SIM card. Whoosh emphasized that e-scooters are already equipped with previous versions of IoT. The new development provides a qualitative leap in performance.

The introduction of IoT 7.0 will allow the company to save about 20% on production costs. All new modules are assembled in Russia at the Whoosh restoration and repair center, which allows the company to control the entire production process.

For users, the changes will be as follows:

  • Improved accuracy of satellite signal reception thanks to the new GNSS module.
  • Ability to continue navigation even when the signal is lost, thanks to the built-in inertial system.
  • Voice prompts during the trip, which eliminates the need to take out the phone.
  • Modernization of LED lighting with new functions.

The new IoT module has become more compact, and the capacity of the built-in battery has doubled. The processor power has also increased. Currently, about 18 thousand e-scooters are already equipped with the new module.
