Modernized ballistic missiles of the Russian operational tactical missile system (OTRK) "Iskander-M" began to maneuver in the final stage of flight, which significantly complicates interception by anti-missiles of the American Patriot anti-aircraft missile system (SAM). This was stated by military expert Yuri Ignat.
Unlike cruise missiles, ballistic missiles always have a predictable trajectory. However, in the case of the modernized "Iskander", this rule does not work.
"Iskanders" maneuver, making it difficult for Patriot anti-aircraft systems to operate. The air defense system calculates the interception point based on the assumption that the target's trajectory will remain unchanged.
"Iskander-M" is used to destroy enemy air defense systems, as well as other important objects at a maximum range of up to 500 km.
