Space Technology Engineering and Research Center opened in Tomsk

The center was primarily created to develop advanced power supply systems

Tomsk State University of Control Systems and Radioelectronics and the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology have created a space technology engineering and research center in Tomsk. Here, technologies for spacecraft will be developed, scientific research will be conducted, and specialists will be trained, according to the university's press service.

The center was created, first of all, to develop advanced power supply systems, which are the most important part of the onboard systems of any spacecraft. We plan to train personnel in various formats: implementation of joint projects with the involvement of university students, as well as conducting various practical and laboratory classes at the center.
Maxim Sukhorukov, Director of the Center

According to him, the creation of the engineering and research center opens up prospects for the implementation of promising scientific and technical projects, conducting fundamental research and development work at the request of industrial partners.

It is assumed that small-scale production and testing of developments will be organized at the center with the aim of further bringing them to the market.

Sukhorukov emphasized that Tomsk State University of Control Systems and Radioelectronics has significant scientific and technical potential, which allows the center to provide a wide range of research and engineering services.

Thanks to the integration of the educational process with the involvement of young specialists, the development process is accelerated. This makes the center strategically important for fulfilling the tasks of the university's development program and supporting state initiatives in the field of space technologies.

Earlier, Russian scientists developed a low-orbit complex for fast inter-satellite and terrestrial communications. Its basis is the technology of an active phased antenna array. The startup aims to create a Russian analogue of Starlink.
