Next week, the flagship model of the revived brand, "Moskvich 8", will arrive at dealerships. The car, which is a licensed version of the Chinese JAC Sehol X8, will be the third new product in the lineup after the "Moskvich 3" crossover and the "Moskvich 6" liftback.
"Moskvich 8" is positioned as a three-row SUV with a length of 4.82 m and a wheelbase of 2.83 m, which is comparable to the Hyundai Santa Fe and Chery Tiggo 8 Pro. Despite its dimensions, the model is equipped exclusively with front-wheel drive and a ground clearance of 170 mm, which limits its off-road potential. The power plant includes a 1.5-liter turbocharged engine with a capacity of 174 hp, working in tandem with a 7-speed robotic gearbox.
The basic equipment includes a touch multimedia system, dual-zone climate control, heated front seats and electric mirrors.
The model is assembled at the facilities of the former Renault plant in Moscow, adapted for the localization of Chinese platforms. The lack of alternative engines and all-wheel drive is explained by the focus on urban operation and cost reduction.
