AvtoVAZ's production facilities, intended for the large-scale production of the new Lada Iskra model, will remain temporarily underutilized. According to insiders, the company has postponed the redistribution of the Granta sedan assembly to the Lada Niva line, which would free up resources to increase Iskra production.
The initial plan was to transfer Granta production to the Niva conveyor, where equipment is installed for integrating a reinforced chassis platform. This required modernization of logistics chains and reconfiguration of robotic lines. However, current market conditions do not justify such costs: demand for cars has decreased, and warehouse stocks have reached record levels.
In 2025, AvtoVAZ planned to produce 500,000 cars, but adjusted the figure to 360,000. Of these, Lada Iskra, whose retail sales start on July 20, will account for only 20,000 units. Analysts attribute this to two factors — market saturation and component shortages.
