Unmanned Regiment: New Units to Appear in the Russian Navy for the First Time

The new units will include robotic systems for both water and air

All units of the Russian Navy will form regiments of unmanned systems. The new units will include robotic systems operating in different environments: ground and air drones, underwater unmanned vehicles, and unmanned boats.

The units will perform both strike and reconnaissance missions, destroy enemy drones and mines, and protect Russian ships.

Military expert Dmitry Boltenkov noted that the created regiments will likely become part of the formed unmanned systems troops and become the basis of their naval component.

They will be equipped with various types of unmanned aerial vehicles, including Orlan, Forpost, and Lancet, as well as unmanned boats capable of performing reconnaissance, mine countermeasures, and strike missions.
