Communication failures in Russian regions: subscribers complain about Internet outages from all operators

Most complaints come from residents of Karelia, Moscow and 10 other regions

On the morning of May 9, 2025, Russia is experiencing widespread disruptions in mobile communications and Internet services from operators MTS, Megafon, Tele2 (T2) and Beeline, which coincides with previously introduced temporary communication restrictions due to the Victory Day parade and security measures.

According to Downdetector, the largest number of complaints about failures comes from the Republic of Karelia — this region appears in the lists of all four operators. Problems are also noted in Moscow, Pskov, Vladimir, Sverdlovsk, Nizhny Novgorod, Kostroma, Tver, Murmansk, Samara and Oryol regions, as well as in the Republic of Tatarstan.

Operators have not yet made official statements, but the situation corresponds to previously announced restrictions on radio communications and mobile Internet in the European part of Russia in order to counter possible threats using UAVs.
