The commercial vehicle market in Russia in the first quarter of 2025 showed a significant decrease in spending on equipment purchases. Over three months, 219 billion rubles were spent, which is 39% less compared to the same period last year, according to a joint study by Gazprombank Autoleasing and the Autostat agency. Most of the money went to purchasing trucks, with the market divided between domestic and Chinese brands.
More than half of the funds spent on purchasing new trucks went to three brands. The leader is KAMAZ, whose share was 26% of the market, equivalent to 41.2 billion rubles. Next are the Chinese brands: SITRAK (30.7 billion rubles) and Shacman (14.2 billion rubles). The top five in terms of spending also included FAW, Ural, GAZ, MAZ, Dongfeng, HOWO, and JAC. Chinese and Russian brands account for more than 90% of the market, both in terms of the number of vehicles sold and in terms of money.
Among the most popular models that attracted the most funds, the Chinese tractor unit SITRAK C7H ranked first with a sum of 30.7 billion rubles. In second place in terms of spending is KAMAZ-43118, for which 12.5 billion rubles were spent. Followed by Ural-4320, KAMAZ-65115, and KAMAZ-54901.
Tractor units remain the most in demand, with 43.8 billion rubles spent on their purchase, which is 28% of the total amount. They are followed by dump trucks and refrigerators. However, despite the fact that sales of light commercial vehicles decreased by 17%, their financial capacity remains significantly lower than that of heavy vehicles.
