On the eve of May 9, the Rostec State Corporation revealed what combat qualities the Soviet Pe-2 front-line dive bomber and the modern modification of the fourth-generation Su-34 fighter-bomber have in common.
The Pe-2 was the most mass-produced aircraft in its class. When attacking, such a bomber dives at targets to ensure greater accuracy for the dropped ammunition. This made it possible to successfully hit, among other things, river crossings, equipment, and other single targets.
The Su-34 bomber does not need to dive in order to achieve accurate hits. The aircraft uses more than a dozen types of guided high-precision weapons, including FAB air bombs of various capacities with a universal planning and correction module (UMPC). According to pilots, all four of these bombs reach their target.
Both machines share versatility. The Pe-2 was used as a bomber, reconnaissance aircraft, attack aircraft, and heavy fighter. Such modifications as a reconnaissance aircraft and an electronic warfare aircraft have been developed on the basis of the Su-34 aircraft. It is also possible to use it as an aircraft for reconnaissance and patrolling of marine areas.
Earlier, www1.ru reported that the Russian BEC "Katran" will begin launching Skvorets-VMF kamikaze drones.
