The Russian military has begun using the latest high-precision air-to-surface missile, the Kh-38. The munition was developed for launches from fifth-generation Su-57 fighters, but the Kh-38 can also be used from other military strike aircraft.
The warhead of the Kh-38 missile is up to 250 kg. The missile is capable of effectively hitting a wide range of targets, striking command posts, buildings, and equipment, and is also suitable for striking enemy ships.
The missile's firing range is about 40 km, which allows the fighter to launch at a safe distance from air defense systems. At the same time, the missile's speed is about 1,600 km/h.
The Kh-38 missile is modular and can have several types of homing systems at once: thermal imaging, laser, satellite, and active radar. When using a laser guidance system, target illumination is required by a ground target designation operator or from the carrier aircraft.
It is assumed that the Kh-38 will become the main missile for equipping Russian fighters and multi-purpose military aircraft, such as the Su-35S and MiG-35.
Earlier, www1.ru reported that the Ministry of Defense demanded to recover almost a million rubles from Voentorg in a new lawsuit.
