During a working trip to the M.V. Khrunichev Research and Production Center, Dmitry Bakanov, General Director of the Roscosmos State Corporation, outlined the priority areas for the development of the space industry. The main attention is paid to projects based on the Angara family of launch vehicles, which should replace the outdated Protons.
Bakanov highlighted key aspects of the program such as: the production of Angara modifications for government contracts, preparation for the deployment of modules of the Russian Orbital Station from 2027, and the transition to digital systems engineering in development.
Technical Features of Angara:
- Modular design based on universal rocket blocks
- Payload range from 3.5 to 38 tons
- Use of environmentally friendly oxygen-kerosene engines
I consider one of the priority tasks to be the fulfillment of obligations under government contracts of the Khrunichev Center with the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation and the Roscosmos State Corporation for the production of Angara series launch vehicles in various modifications, including for the implementation of promising projects.
As part of the visit, the head of Roscosmos, Dmitry Bakanov, also visited TsNIIMash, where priority areas of activity for the industry were discussed.
The first is systemic research that shapes the conceptual vision for the development of the industry. Their result is the creation of strategic planning documents, the generation of breakthrough areas of development, the creation of advanced technologies, the determination of priorities for the development of automatic space systems, launch vehicles and ground-based space infrastructure, and the manned program.
Special attention is paid to the project of the Russian Orbital Station, the first modules of which are planned to be launched into orbit from the Vostochny Cosmodrome using Angara.
The transition to Angara rockets marks a new stage in the development of Russian cosmonautics. Unlike the Protons, created in the 1960s, the new carriers offer a number of advantages in the form of greater payload capacity, environmental friendliness and flexibility of configurations.
