Perm Polytechnic University has modernized a linear engine. This was reported in the press service of the university.
The dimensions of the device have become smaller, it is lighter, and production has become easier - now its parts fit on small lathes. Replacing external bearings with internal ones allows maintaining an air gap along the entire length, and installing powerful magnets eliminates the need to power the moving rod.
The prototype of the new product has been successfully tested. Linear motors convert electrical energy into motion without additional mechanical gears, which increases their reliability and reduces wear. They are used in elevators, factory machines, electronics and medical equipment.
The design of a linear motor consists of a fixed part (stator) and a moving element (rotor). When current is applied to the coils, a magnetic field is created that "runs" like a wave, causing the rotor to move in a straight line.
The modernized engine showed stable operation even under high loads, reaching a maximum force of 50 kg and a working force of about 41 kg. It demonstrated temperature stability at 51°C and the ability to briefly produce power up to 2250 W.
Earlierwww1.ru reported thatrevealed the impact of the PD-14 engine modernization on the production rate of MS-21 aircraft.
