Russian Geran kamikaze drones, in the event of a collision with a fighter in the sky, are capable of causing serious damage to a combat aircraft. Such a scenario was allowed by Honored Military Pilot, Major General Vladimir Popov.
According to him, interceptor drones can only work at comparable speeds or with other drones, their target may be slow-speed helicopters or transport aircraft.
Therefore, fighter pilots may accidentally collide with a drone, such cases have occurred.
Popov added that the Russian Armed Forces have two dozens of drones that could destroy fighters. At the same time, the modernized model of the Geran with a jet engine can reach speeds of around 600 km/h.
