Electricity exports from Russia decreased by 2.9% in the first quarter of 2025

At the same time, electricity imports increased by 68.4% over the same period

In the first quarter of 2025, electricity exports from Russia decreased by 2.9% compared to the same period last year, reaching 2.004 billion kWh.

The main destinations for supplies remain Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan, which account for 43% of the total volume, as well as Mongolia (14%). At the same time, exports to China continue to decline due to infrastructure constraints in the Far East, preventing a return to pre-crisis levels.

In parallel, an increase in electricity imports of 68.4% was recorded, up to 540 million kWh. The main source was Kazakhstan, whose flows compensate for part of domestic needs. This trend has persisted since 2024, when exports decreased by 17.6% and imports increased by 15.5%.
