Russian military personnel began deploying Msta-B howitzers in a non-standard way on the battlefield. The role of artillery in achieving the overall success of the troops is very high, said third-year student Junior Sergeant Ilya Berdyshev.
The serviceman noted that lectures on tactics or fire control for cadets are not just theory, but a rethinking of what they had to face on the front line.
During classes on the organization of firing positions, classmates were surprised why I always suggest non-standard options for placing guns. The answer is simple — you can't always follow the template, guided only by educational and correct schemes. Therefore, a non-standard approach is quite appropriate.
According to him, reports using real combat experience often contain examples from modern combat and can be adopted, in accordance with the specific situation.
After all, today there is a lot of new things in counter-battery combat, in the context of the use of drones and electronic warfare equipment.
The weight of the towed 152-mm howitzer Msta-B is 7 tons, the crew is 8 people. To move the gun, the standard Ural-4320 tractor is used — a truck with increased cross-country ability and a 6x6 wheel arrangement.
Msta-B is capable of firing 7–8 rounds per minute. The ammunition load of the installation is 60 rounds, the weight of each is about 44 kg. The firing range of high-explosive fragmentation shells is up to 24.7 km, and ammunition with a bottom gas generator is up to 30 km.
