The most famous Soviet homemade car — Yuri Algebraistov's "Yuna" — will now be exhibited at the Museum of Homemade Cars in Pereslavl-Zalessky, according to blogger Danila Khainov ("I Build Cars").
The car was built in 1982 under the "Satan" project by Shcherbinin-Algebraistov and is considered a true gem of domestic self-made cars.
The acquisition of "Yuna" became an important event for the museum: the car, which has become a symbol of creative initiative and engineering thought of enthusiasts of the USSR, will take a place of honor in the permanent exhibition. Interestingly, such large private collections as UMMC, the Vadim Zadorozhny Museum, and "Automobiles of the World" missed the opportunity to replenish their collections with this unique exhibit.
Now, lovers of rare automotive equipment have another reason to plan a trip to Pereslavl-Zalessky to see the legendary "Yuna" with their own eyes and appreciate the contribution of enthusiasts to the development of homemade automotive industry.
The homemade car "Yuna" is built on the basis of GAZ-24 ("Volga"). Instead of the standard ZMZ engine, a BMW engine with a capacity of 195 hp was installed in the car. This engine is paired with an automatic transmission.
