Unnatural intonation, rare blinking, and atypical requests may indicate that the video was created using deepfake technologies. This was reported by the Department for Organizing the Fight Against Illegal Use of Information and Communication Technologies of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation.
The department advises paying attention to speech features. If the voice sounds "robotic," it is recommended to additionally contact the person and verify their identity to exclude the possibility of fraud.
Signs of a deepfake may also include asynchronous lip movement and too rare blinking. Unusual movements and unusual requests coming through non-standard communication channels should also be alarming.
Fraudsters most often use deepfakes of acquaintances to ask for money after hacking an account. Sometimes attackers create fake videos featuring celebrities to advertise games or attract people to dubious investment projects. When clicking on the links sent, users risk losing their savings.
