Russia's main arms concern, Kalashnikov, has opened a new production facility in Moscow. The plant, with an area of 34,000 sq. m, was built in just 12 months, the concern's press service reported.
Alan Lushnikov, General Director of Kalashnikov, stated that the new complex will begin production of spare parts and elements of the electronic component base. An experimental laboratory for MIM technology (injection molding of polymeric materials highly filled with metal powders) will also appear here.
This technology is already used in the production of AK-12. With its help, it is possible to obtain a finished part without subsequent processing. At the same time, the surface quality of MIM parts is higher than that of parts obtained by investment casting.
Currently, AO "LOMO" (part of the concern) produces some of the electronic components for optical, optoelectronic, opto-digital and opto-mechanical devices, systems and complexes.
