Court sided with the Vympel Shipyard in a dispute with the Ministry of Defense

The Vympel Shipyard from Rybinsk proved in court its innocence in the delay of handing over the hydrographic vessel Yakov Lapushkin, project 19910, to the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation. Vympel handed it over to the customer in September 2023 instead of October 2022.

The defense department won the dispute in two instances, but at the last stage, the court sided with the shipbuilders and sent the case for a new trial. By the decision of the Arbitration Court of the city of Moscow dated April 9, the Ministry of Defense was denied satisfaction of the claims.

Among the objective reasons for the delay in the construction of the vessel, the court took into account problems with the supply of ship equipment from abroad.

Due to the introduction of anti-Russian sanctions, foreign manufacturers refused to supply Vympel with a diesel generator, a diesel-reduction unit and other critical components.

Currently, Vympel serially produces new generation combat missile and patrol boats of projects 12421 and 12418 Molniya, high-speed search and rescue, fire, hydrographic, tug and other specialized vessels, providing service and warranty maintenance of manufactured products.
