СМС не пройдёт: ВТБ и Т2 разработали схему борьбы с телефонными мошенниками

Оператор задержит отправку сообщений для подтверждения входа клиента в онлайн-банк при подозрительных звонках

VTB and mobile operator T2 have developed a joint plan to combat phone fraudsters. As part of this project, the sending of SMS messages to confirm a client's login to online banking will be delayed in case of suspicious calls.

T2 and VTB will delay sending SMS messages in case of suspicious calls. If users request an access code to online banking during a phone conversation, the operator will delay the SMS. Whenever it arrives-during the conversation or after the call-the information in the message will become outdated. This will reduce the risks for the client during an attack by fraudsters.

If a client has requested an SMS message during a phone conversation, this may be a sign of fraudulent activity. Since June 1, operators are required to block the sending of messages with access codes to the "Gosuslugi" portal.

The goal of the initiative is to protect the groups of the population most at risk of deception-clients over 60 years of age and young people between the ages of 14 and 21. Fraudsters use various tricks to intimidate their victims and convince them to provide them with SMS codes to access their account on the "Gosuslugi" portal or to log in to internet banking.

After that, attackers can use the electronic signature on the "Gosuslugi" portal to apply for a loan or microloan, as well as to create several eSIM cards in the victim's name. In addition, they can change the password in online banking, confirm the withdrawal of funds, or apply for loans.

Earlier, Beeline and Wildberries & Russ announced a partnership aimed at creating an effectiveinvestigation system. As part of this collaboration, new methods of analysis and anti-fraud monitoring will be developed, which will allow tracking data on fraudulent calls and suspicious transactions. It is expected that thanks to joint efforts, marketplace users will be able to save more than 60 million rubles annually.
