In the Russian automotive market in the first quarter of 2025 (from January to March), significantly fewer cars were sold than in the same period in 2024. 45.5% fewer new cars were sold than in March of that year. This was reported by analysts.
Domestic LADA retains its leading position — March 2025 — 31% (last year this figure was lower at 28%). In quantitative terms, this is 25,167 cars sold.
Among foreign brands, Haval leads (2nd place), with 9,790 units sold in March.
In third place is Chery (8,409 cars), followed by Geely (5,134) and Changan (3,787).
In total, 246,934 new passenger cars were sold in Russia in the first quarter of 2025, which is 25.3% less than in the three months of last year.
If we consider the growth dynamics, the Solaris brand (renamed Hyundai and Kia, assembled in St. Petersburg) performed best. According to Avtostat, Solaris sales in the first quarter of this year increased 23 times compared to the same period last year, amounting to 4,013 units. The brand demonstrated the best growth dynamics against the backdrop of an overall market decline.
The second place in terms of sales growth was taken by the products of BelGee — localized Belgee crossovers and Geely sedans. In the first quarter of 2025, sales of cars from the BelGee plant increased by 46.6%.
Chery sub-brands, such as Jaecoo and Jetour, also demonstrated sales growth — by 25.3% and 19%, respectively.
The remaining brands from the top 10, including Lada (15%), Haval (17.1%), Chery (19.2%), Geely (54.6%), Changan (34.3%) and Omoda (37.5%), showed a decrease in sales in the first quarter of 2025. Geely recorded a particularly strong drop — 54.6%.
