Recently, there have been increasing cases of fraudsters posing as tax officials and contacting citizens by phone, email or messengers. Unknown persons, on behalf of the Federal Tax Service, report allegedly unpaid taxes, debts, unsubmitted documents, as well as the need to submit a declaration, explanations or other documents.
Also, attackers can send a fake official document or confirmation of an appointment with the inspection via messenger or email. Sometimes they offer to personally come to the inspector to clarify or declare income.
The actions of fraudsters are aimed at dulling the vigilance of citizens and gaining access to their personal data.
The department warned that attackers may require their potential victims to name the code from the "Gosuslugi" portal or the confirmation code to enter other sites. Having received them, they will be able to hack into their personal account and gain access to personal data and use it, for example, to apply for a loan.
Another way to deceive is to offer to install a special application or follow a link to pay taxes or other mandatory payments at a discount. However, such applications or links may contain viruses that can be installed on the device and steal personal data. The money that you transfer allegedly to pay taxes may end up in the accounts of fraudsters.
Earlier, fraudsters developed a new scheme to deceive Russians, which includes two stages. First, attackers hack into social media accounts to damage the reputation of their owners, and then extort money.
