Индия задумала модернизировать танки Т-90 для борьбы с дронами-камикадзе

Special fragmentation munitions will effectively counter maneuverable aerial targets

The Indian Army is exploring the possibility of retrofitting T-90 tanks to combat drones. Local manufacturers are aiming to integrate an autonomous anti-drone system to replace the tanks' 12.7mm machine gun mount, which is currently manually operated by the commander.

Т-90

The current T-90 setup includes a 12.7mm NSV heavy machine gun mounted on the turret, remotely controlled via the commander's TKN-4S "Agat-M" sight.

The proposed system should integrate with the current machine gun mount, providing 360-degree rotation and coverage for detecting, recognizing, and identifying low-speed aerial targets without constant human intervention.

Key requirements include an AI-based algorithm for target lock and tracking with a detection range of 5000 meters, a recognition range of 3000 meters, and an identification range of 2000 meters.

An important element of the modernization is the projectiles, which will scatter fragments upon detonation, increasing the likelihood of neutralizing small, mobile targets such as drones.
