Only the sky is the limit: MiG-29 fighter climbed to a height of 22,500 meters

According to the specifications, the practical flight ceiling of the aircraft is no more than 18,000 meters

Photos of the barometric altimeter of the Russian fourth-generation MiG-29 fighter, which climbed to a height of 22 500 meters, have appeared online.

According to tactical and technical characteristics, the practical ceiling of the combat vehicle does not exceed 18 000 meters.

At the same time, in 1995, test pilot Roman Taskaev was able to reach a height of 27,460 meters in his MiG-29.

However, then it was about an aircraft specifically for the record: without weapons, with removed equipment and with part of the fuel. And in the above case, a standard MiG-29 reached such a height.

The updated version of the MiG-29M is capable of tracking up to ten targets and firing at four simultaneously. The detection range of enemy fighters is up to 80 km. The pilot has improved visibility from the cockpit. The information content of weapon systems, indication and navigation, as well as ergonomics, has been increased.

MiG-29 characteristics:

Height — 4.73 m, wingspan — 11.36 m, maximum speed — 2450 km/h (2.3 Mach), practical flight range at high altitude — 1 thousand 430 km (with external fuel tanks — 2 thousand 100 km), maximum takeoff weight — 18.1 tons, maximum combat load weight — 2.18 tons, crew — one person (in the combat training modification — two).
