Russian Companies Recommended to Switch to Domestic Hosting Providers

Disruptions in the operation of various resources in the RuNet are due to the use of foreign hosting providers who are not responsible for the operation of services and data storage on their infrastructures. This was stated in an interview with RIA Novosti by Anton Nemkin, a member of the State Duma Committee on Information Policy.

This is primarily due to the fact that services use foreign hosting providers. We have created a kind of own ecosystem in the RuNet on the territory of the Russian Federation, which contains elements of counteraction to DDoS attacks. In particular, we have such a system at Roskomnadzor and other various algorithms.
Anton Nemkin, member of the State Duma Committee on Information Policy

According to the deputy, many companies use foreign hosting, and therefore often find themselves outside the scope of Russian systems and are in "independent navigation." This creates risks for information security and the stability of services.

Over the past three years, we have developed a practice according to which foreign providers do not bear any obligations for the operation of the service, for storing information on their own infrastructures.
Anton Nemkin, member of the State Duma Committee on Information Policy

Nemkin stressed that the transition to Russian hosting providers is an urgent necessity. In this case, clear legal relations are built, the area of responsibility is distributed, and countermeasures are applied within the framework of national interests.

Nevertheless, it is necessary to formulate and update the requirements for our Russian infrastructure, which will take into account the wishes of the Ministry of Digital Development, Roskomnadzor, which, ultimately, should lead to additional stability of the existing communication infrastructure.
